You have an interesting take on Johnstown. We were there a year or so ago during the summer. We had visited the south fork area first and wanted to see Johnstown too. The area we visited showed a lovely small town, lots of interesting looking shops, street trees, everything charming. I had forgotten about the 1977 flood until reading your narrative. But the area very definitely is in the bottom of a giant basin. It is a beautiful town, I hope it will be okay going forward. Lf
